Make Me Blush

Happy September! This year is flying by way too fast. I guess it's true that as you get older, time speeds up. If only life had a "pause" button. I know that's such a cliche thing to say, but it's really true. Parker will be 4 weeks old tomorrow, and I literally don't know where that time has gone. I've been keeping myself so busy between seeing friends and family and trying to keep up with housework, thank you notes, laundry, etc. I think I need to slow it down a little and savor this time I have at home before heading back to work. I have been doing a bit of reading about "spirited" children (strong-willed children), and I found the chapter on extroverts and introverts particularly interesting. All of you who know me know that I'm as far as one can get on the extroverted side of the spectrum, which basically means that I energize by seeing loved ones and by meeting new people. Hence my non-stop social calendar. I get a little crazy and moody when I spend too much time alone.

On this particular day, I was meeting a friend for lunch (hey, Amanda!), so of course I coerced her into doing a blog shoot for me. She's 8 months pregnant and it was hot out, but she was a trooper. We took advantage of this crazy cute store in the Castro; of course I can't remember the name of it...

My mom had bought this vest for me when she was visiting (thanks, Mom!), and I couldn't wait to juxtapose it with a feminine dress. I've had this dress for too many years to count, but I've linked a handful of cute blush dresses below. I pretty much want all of them! The vest is American Rag from Macy's, but I've linked a few others below.

I want to say thanks to everyone who's been keeping up with our blog. Not to sound too "acceptance-speechy," but it means a lot to Nahal and me that you all take the time to peruse our site and who give us feedback. Extroverts love feedback!

If there are ever any topics you'd like to see discussed, or tips and tricks for styling or anything else, we're all ears!

xoxo,

Lisa

Yes to Polka Dots

I wore this Maje dress to a wedding in Tahoe recently, and I absolutely loved it. It was so flattering, and made me feel very Marilyn Monroe-esque. The mini polka dot pattern has a retro vibe, and I can't wait to pair it with a leather jacket and chunky heels to add some edge. It is perfectly flowy and really moves with my body, so it was the perfect dress for a night of dancing!

I've linked to other polka dot dresses below, and if you're in love with this Maje dress (I wouldn't blame you), check out any Maje store or Bloomingdale's for the Rossi dress.

The necklace is from my most recent Rocksbox, and it is the Perry Street Olivia necklace. Similar versions are linked below, but if you want the real thing, look for the Perry Street Olivia necklace, or add it to your Rocksbox wish list!

Thanks for reading!
XOXO

Preggo in PinkBlush!

I'm sitting here on my couch trying to keep myself busy and not think about my impending labor. I'm 3 days from my due date, but I haven't seen any signs of baby just yet...Sylvie came nearly a week early, so I didn't really have to play this waiting game with her. This is tough! I'm feeling really large, really grouchy, and really sleep deprived! Luckily my mom flew into SF yesterday, which makes everything better!

I probably owe my husband and brother-in-law an apology for being a bit of a diva on this photo shoot. Sorry, guys! Can I write my impatience off to hormones? I have noticed I'm a bit temperamental the last week or so. Consult my husband on the matter, and he may say that it's been more like the last 9 months! Anyhow, I wanted to shoot this final PinkBlush maternity  look before I popped, so we ventured out to run some errands and do this shoot. Let me tell you, doing a photo shoot in bad lighting with a 3-year-old photobomber was not easy. But then, that's life, isn't it? I wouldn't have it any other way.

I know I've mentioned PinkBlush Maternity in my last few posts,  but I can't tell you enough how much I love the pieces I got from them! They are all totally wearable post-baby, and I can't wait to prove that SOON! I envision this top tucked into an a-line skirt with the tallest heels I can find in my closet. BRING. IT. ON.

Don't forget to stop by pinkblushmaternity.com to check out their great selection. They're always having great sales and their clothes could not be more feminine and comfortable!

Thanks for reading, and hopefully next time you see a post from me it'll entail some baby news! xoxo
